DIRECTIONS FOR CARE OF TEMPORARY CROWNS:
  1. Avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after appointment
  2. Avoid chewy, sticky foods
  3. Avoid biting hard foods on the temporary area
  4. Avoid waterpiks and flossing area around temporary area
  5. Crown will be seated in 2 ½ to 3 weeks
  6. If the temporary crown should come off place on with Vaseline or toothpaste until you can make it to our office to have it recommended

DIRECTIONS FOR THE CARE OF EXTRACTIONS:
  1. Take the prescribed medications as directed. If an antibiotic has been prescribed, be sure to follow the instructions to take the FULL course of antibiotic, even if your symptoms have eased or disappeared. If a pain medication was prescribed, remember that drowsiness is a common side effect, and you should limit your activities accordingly. Nausea is also common if medications are taken on a completely empty stomach, so milk or a small amount of soup is recommended prior to taking medications. If any other side effects occur, be sure to reread the instructions and warning on the medication and call our office if questions remain.
  2. Remember to keep firm pressure on the extraction site with gauze as instructed, replacing with fresh gauze every 10-15 minutes for at least an hour, or until bleeding has stopped. When bleeding does not cease within about an hour and a half try placing a moist tea bag against the site. If bleeding persists for longer than a few hours, please call our office. If sutures have been placed during the procedure, which must be removed at out office, we will reappoint you for this at that visit.
  3. Once a blood clot has been established, we want you to protect it for several days by avoiding behaviors that risk dislodging the clot. This includes such behaviors as drinking through a straw, smoking, rinsing vigorously, and spitting. If the clot is removed from deep in the extraction site, infection and pain are much more likely.
  4. When necessary, and ice pack may be used to ease symptoms of pain and swelling that have resulted from the procedure.
  5. We recommend a soft diet or limiting chewing to an unaffected area of the mouth, or both, depending upon the number and locations of the extractions performed. This will help to avoid further damage to the soft tissues in the mouth while the area is healing. Do not, however, avoid eating. A good diet is very important to your healing.
  6. Make sure you do not neglect keeping your other teeth clean. Brush and rinse very gently and avoid spitting forcefully
*Always remember that if you have any questions or concerns, we welcome your call. Your comfort and recovery are very important to us.

DIRECTIONS FOR THE CARE OF DEEP CLEANING:
  1. Follow up in 4 to six weeks for a cleaning and evaluation
  2. Continue with normal home care
  3. Sometimes medicated rinse is recommend
